To Be Kingdom Minded
by Stella Whalen
In the world of athletics, we put this peerless pressure on ourselves to beat records, defeat titles, change the culture of the team and write our name in history. All of those intentions are impactful, but none are permanent. Records fall, titles get beat, teams change, and names will be written over yours.

Some believe that even making a temporary impact in this life is an achievement, and it is. But what if there was a bigger purpose to our time on Earth than the provisional elements of life?
Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone has the unique position of knowing both purposes. She currently holds the world record for the women's 400-meter hurdle race. A few years ago she gave her life to Jesus and became very open about her faith. Now, in all her successes and achievements she gives the glory to God and points out that we are here for a purpose bigger than ourselves. Loving others and making Jesus known is the pursuit of life and that's what it looks like to have a kingdom mindset.
